Let God Prevail

 



What’s on my mind, and thank you for asking. This morning my reading in Jacob chapter 5 brought these words to life.


We will nourish, spare, hearken, prune, dig, nourish some more, grieve, pluck, preserve, hide, come, look, prune again, taste, preserve some more, weep, spare again, (all the while understanding the purpose), graft, trim, labor diligently with all our might, grow, clear away, bring together, unite, … and realize “even though the tree profits me nothing I know the roots are good.” 


And then there is the proverbial lament, “what more could I have done? … is it not the loftiness of the vineyard?”  And will Israel (me), “let God prevail?” His hands are outstretched still.
