looking East
front porch
shivering
thinking

where
will this snow go
other than my home

Nevada
Arizona
California

thankful for precious water
thankful for sun and seeds
thankful for farmers
thankful for migrant workers

so thankful for life giving snow

but,
when i drive past
lush green golf courses
with 30 foot high fountains
outside of Las Vegas
or St. George
or Mesquite
and it's 103 degrees outside

i am irritated
ashamed
such flagrant waste
