renewed appreciation for modern medicine
reminder of how terrible war is
not crazy for supposition when it comes to what Lincoln was thinking

I loved the book also. Who would have thought that the majority of deaths during the war came from disease and such poor medical facilities to treat the wounded. We are truly blessed to live in these modern times.
