regret

salty laugh lines
rewinding missed moments
house quiet, pre-dawn
outside soaked earth

birds stir
sensing the sun
and so do i
wishing ... if only,

spilled milk
it's too late
is this what it's like
to grow old?

quiet, dark house
wanting for another chance
alone
feeling regret

I was recently on a tour of Latin America, and the only regret I have was that I didn't study Latin harder in school so I could converse with those people.
Dan Quayle

I hate to be a failure. I hate and regret the failure of my marriages. I would gladly give all my millions for just one lasting marital success.
J P Getty

these two guys throw a whole new spin on this topic. xox

"spilled milk"-
I'm not sure if that comes from an actual memory, but it makes a wonderful metaphor.

I hope you're not feeling blue. I admire you so much! Besides, none of us come out of this thing impeccable.

And those quotes are hilarious!

M. i love your comments... yes there is indeed a milk memory, but i was thinking "cry over spilled milk" meaning [To regret in vain what cannot be undone or rectified.] i was a little vague.

i was sooo blue when i wrote that. went to church. returned home and looked at a funny quote from Dan Quayle saying something ridiculous (yes, i've done that many times too, but I don't pretend to be smart.) and then to read of Mr. Getty's willingness to trade his millions for a happy companionship. poignant. but for some warped reason these quotes really cheered me up :) thanks for caring. xox

on the contrary, I think the "spilled milk" analogy was clear, and fantastic.

I love you, I hope you're feeling better!
